Lionel Lofton Original Signed Mixed Media Painting Boy with Vase 1
This striking, elegant original work by contemporary African American master Lionel Lofton beautifully captures fluid human form and cultural heritage. Executed in a stylized, elongated figurative format, the piece depicts a dynamic figure balancing a beautifully patterned orange and yellow water vessel overhead.
Lofton utilizes a powerful color palette dominated by a vivid crimson-red dress accented with a patterned yellow belt and hem, set against deep indigo-purple limbs. The clean verticality of the composition is beautifully balanced by a built-in red and black double border framing the central figure. It is hand-inscribed by the artist along the bottom edge, reading "Boy With Vase I" - L. Lofton '88. This is a stunning, authentic example of his sought-after early-period work.
